Description
Essentially a variety of unaged rum, Charanda is a protected denomination of origin spirit from the state of Michoacán in Mexico. Made from 50% estate grown cane juice distilled on a copper pot still, and 50% molasses distilled on a modified column still, this could be called a ‘single blended rum.’ The sugar cane is grown at high altitudes (above 4,000ft) in red volcanic soil. The word Charanda is from the indigenous Purépecha language meaning 'red-colored soil’.
